Time-Slotted Scheduling Schemes for Multi-hop Concurrent Transmission in WPANs with Directional Antenna

چکیده
range wireless multimedia applications, the mmWave wireless personal area networks with directional antennas are gaining increased interest. Due to the use of directional antennas and mmWave communications, the probability of non-interfering transmissions increases in a localized region. The network throughput can immensely increase by the concurrent time allocation of non-interfering transmissions. The problem of finding optimum time allocation for concurrent transmissions is an NP-hard problem. In the literature, few “sub optimum concurrent time slot allocation” schemes have been proposed. In this paper, we propose two enhanced versions of previously proposed Multihop Concurrent Transmission (MHCT) scheme. To increase the network capacity, proposed schemes efficiently use the free holes in the time allocation map of MHCT scheme and make it more compact.

The uniform-traac capacity of switchless, non-bus-oriented, ber-optic single-hop intercon-nections among N stations, each equipped with a small number of transmitters and receivers, can be as high as (log 2 N) concurrent transmissions on a single wavelength with round-robin scheduling in a time-slotted system. However, their capacity with the Slotted ALOHA access scheme does not increase with N...

There is an increasing interest in 60 GHz millimeter-wave (mmWave) communication technologies for multi-Gigabit wireless personal area networks (WPAN), aiming to support broadband multimedia applications. Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) is an emerging killer application which requires high data rate and stringent quality of services (QoS) in terms of delay and packet loss. In this paper, we propose...
متن کاملRouting and Broadcast Development for Minimizing Transmission Interruption in Multi rate Wireless Mesh Networks using Directional Antennas
Using directional antennas to reduce interference and improve throughput in multi hop wireless networks has attracted much attention from the research community in recent years. In this paper, we consider the issue of minimum delay broadcast in multi rate wireless mesh networks using directional antennas. We are given a set of mesh routers equipped with directional antennas, one of which is the...
متن کاملP-CSMA: A Priority-Based CSMA Protocol for Multi-Hop Linear Wireless Networks
In this paper we consider a slotted multi-hop wireless network, where a source transmits continuously data to a destination node, through a route composed of multiple relays which are randomly distributed over a line. The problem of interference among separate nodes in the route is addressed. We propose a novel Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol, named Prioritybased Carrier-Sense Multiple Acc...
متن کاملDirectional NAV Indicators for Smart Antenna Based Ad Hoc Networks
In this paper, we perform a comparative evaluation of characteristics multi-hop transmission of typical omni-directional MAC protocol IEEE 802.11 DCF and three directional MAC protocols. We consider the validity of the directional MAC protocols and problems. Additionally, we describe the suitable environment when a directional MAC protocol is used. Furthermore, we propose three schemes as deali...
